#ShortReadsSaturday (REVIEW) Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Hello Kitty by Sanrio

Hello awesome readers and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! I loved this holiday as a kid, I would spend recess looking for leprechauns and pots of gold. I wasn’t a big fan of all the pinching though!

Today I have a special holiday edition of Short Reads Saturdays with a review of illustrated children’s book, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Hello Kitty by Sanrio. This is a cute little book great for Hello Kitty fans that is also free to read with Amazon Prime.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Hello Kitty

happy saint patricks day hello kittyAuthor: Sanrio
Category: Illustrated Children’s Book, Holiday Theme, St. Patrick’s Day
Suitable for: All Ages, Ideal for ages 4 – 6
My Rating: 4 Stars
Format Read for Review: Kindle
Pages: 24

Description: In this cute, brightly colored picture book, Hello Kitty and her friends and family celebrate Irish culture with music and dancing as they anxiously await the big parade. They hope it wont be ruined by rain, but where there is rain there are rainbows. Hello Kitty wants to write a poem for the parade but before she can find the perfect ending she’ll enjoy a fun day with friends and discover inspiration for the ending.

In Short: This book is adorable and would be enjoyed by young children and anyone who loves Hello Kitty. You can read the e-book for free with Amazon Prime, and if you/your child enjoy it the physical copy might be better (with the font appearing larger, and it might even come with stickers).

Pros: The art is bright, colorful and just plain cute. Although there are no lessons/morals, the story is a feel good tale that would make a good bed time story for small children. It’s a very happy story all about having fun and celebrating. I think small kids will like this story and be able to relate to the traditions shown throughout. And of course fans of Hello Kitty will love it.

Cons: The font is quite small on the kindle book but fortunately you can enlarge it. I can’t put my finger on exactly why this isn’t 5 stars. It might have something to do with the language. It’s basic and kind of feels unnatural, I know it’s for kids but you are never too young to start learning adjectives. There is a noticeable lack of those.

  1. I think that for very early readers the physical book is far more preferable. The whole sensory experience is so crucial for youngsters that I personally would only introduce young readers to the joys of ebooks once they have become independent readers. Thank you for a thorough, thoughtful review:)
