Description: This book was a sad and heartwarming story about a nine year old boy who was abandoned by his mother. Jasper is confused as to why his mother left him in the care of his uncle and aunt on their farm and was desperate to find his mother. Through family secrets and danger the love of a little boy for his mother gave him the strength, no matter how painful, to not give up on finding her.
In Short: This story was well constructed and told from the perspective of a nine year old boy. This book is full of excitement and interesting characters.
Pros: I liked this book from the beginning and it never disappointed me to the end. The historical time and events along with farm life makes this book very interesting. I felt so many emotions throughout the book. I could feel the pain and desperation of little Jasper and some of the other characters.
Cons: For those who are sensitive to the following I would not recommend this book: offensive language, violence, murder, rape, abuse, drugs and alcohol. The chapter titles were confusing, they didn’t seem to fit the contents of the chapter.
Parent’s Guide: This book contains offensive language, violence, murder, rape, abuse, drugs and alcohol.

This one sounds like it is quite a gritty read, but I’m glad you found it enjoyable all the same, D:)
