Owlcrate September ‘A Glorious Haunting’ Unboxed! @owlcrate

*Warning this post contains spoilers of the contents of the September Subscription from Owlcrate.

Hello awesome readers! Today I’m super thrilled to be unboxing the September box from Owlcrate. The theme for this month’s box is ‘A Glorious Haunting’ and the contents are TO DIE FOR! Between my package getting held up and my own technical difficulties (of still not having a computer), I’m sorry this post is a bit late! I’m crazy excited about this book. I might even read it by the end of the month (which would be fast for me, haha). I always love to hear from you, so me know what you think of this box and its book in the comments below!

The first item is a super cool Poe themed throw blanket that is ultra soft. It features ravens, feathers and the written works of Poe himself. I absolutely love it! The Little Beastie has attempted to claim it as her own because it is oh so soft but I refuse to part with it. If anyone is looking for me this fall I’ll be bundled up in there with a book and my Beastie.

These coffee spoons are so awesome. I love the design, what a way to make tea time even more of a treat. The candle smells absolutely amazing I can’t wait to light it when I get into the book! It smells like vanilla and bourbon so naturally my husband likes it too and it is very fitting for the season.

I’m usually kind of neutral about getting balm in subscription boxes but I’m actually really digging the pumpkin spice scent so I’ve been using this one! Look at that enamel bookmark! Isn’t that neat! “Death Before DNF” isn’t usually my motto but dang that’s a pretty bookmark. I love how the skeleton has a book and the words are on a planchette like from a Ouija board. Oh the details!

This enamel pin is so beautiful! I wish I hadn’t lost the picture of me wearing it where you could see more detail. There are even these little details on the sleeve, it’s gorgeous! I’ve realized I have a nice little collection of enamel pins now, I just need to figure out a way to store them and be able to see them?

And for the grand finale, the BOOK. *Drumroll*

Horrid by Katrina Leno. This book sounds so good! And because it sounds absolutely chilling, I’m planning to read it around Halloween. This box came with a special first edition with a new cover. Even the original with the black roses is stunning! Which do you prefer?

Here is the blurb for Horrid off Amazon:

From the author of You Must Not Miss comes a haunting contemporary horror novel that explores themes of mental illness, rage, and grief, twisted with spine-chilling elements of Stephen King and Agatha Christie.
Following her father’s death, Jane North-Robinson and her mom move from sunny California to the dreary, dilapidated old house in Maine where her mother grew up. All they want is a fresh start, but behind North Manor’s doors lurks a history that leaves them feeling more alone…and more tormented.
As the cold New England autumn arrives, and Jane settles in to her new home, she finds solace in old books and memories of her dad. She steadily begins making new friends, but also faces bullying from the resident “bad seed,” struggling to tamp down her own worst nature in response. Jane’s mom also seems to be spiraling with the return of her childhood home, but she won’t reveal why. Then Jane discovers that the “storage room” her mom has kept locked isn’t for storage at all–it’s a little girl’s bedroom, left untouched for years and not quite as empty of inhabitants as it appears….
Is it grief? Mental illness? Or something more…horrid?
Overall, I am so happy with September’s box and I can’t wait for October’s which has the theme: Legends and Lore. I wonder what the book will be!

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway contest I have going on right now! This is the last day to enter!
