Hello awesome readers! Today I’m doing The Anonymous Bookaholics Tag. I’ve been tagged by the awesome Ivana (thank you, girl!) over at Books and Prejudice. Isn’t that a cool blog name? I should have given mine more thought, haha. Be sure to visit and check out her answers as well!
Here are the questions, if you’d like to do this too, then I’m tagging YOU.

1. What do you like about buying new books?
If it’s a paperback I love smelling the pages and ogling the cover. When I’m done drooling it’s fun to read the book too! Visit new worlds, make new fictional friends, and discover new authors to read. Also, I can’t deny, getting new books feels like Christmas morning, every time.
2. How often do you buy new books?
Rarely. As a new mom, I don’t really spend money on ME most of the time. I also have so many books sent to me by authors that I put a higher priority on reading those than the ones I discovered through the mainstream and have purchased myself. I recently purchased a small stack, but the haul before that was about 5 months ago.
3. Bookshops or online book shopping: which do you prefer?
I love going into bookshops and even hanging out at libraries but I honestly do most of my book shopping online. It’s the quickest and most convenient way for me during this pandemic as well.
4. Do you have a favorite bookshop?
Kind of. I’ve been moving around lately so I don’t exactly have ‘roots’ but this one is the closest to that. It’s a small book shop they sell mostly used books and other things like incense and all these funny little nick-nacks. There is a resident cat, of course. But what I love most is their collection of very old books. I bought a bonafide antique there when I was a teenager and I still have it.
5. Do you pre-order books?
Nah. Unless you count Kindle First. As an Amazon Prime member, I get a free pre-released book that I technically select and “purchase” for $0. I’ve actually read a few neat books that way. I’m really excited about this latest one I got, Opium and Absinthe: A Novel by Lydia Kang. This prompted me to discover The Impossible Girl for only $0.99 which I immediately purchased as well.
6. Do you have a monthly buying limit?
No, but I don’t usually buy books either. I’ll buy toys for my toddler all day but I rarely treat myself to a new book. I bought a handful of books recently and it really felt like I splurged!
7. How big is your wish list?
I want to collect all of the Buffy comics so I guess you could say my wish list is pretty huge. I’d also love to complete the Fever series, someday finish the Anita Blake series, along with countless other individually cool books.
8. Which three books from your wish list do you wish to own right now?
I’d really like to have in no particular order:
- Any of the Spike books 😍
-
The Bonesetter’s Daughter by Amy Tan
- Chainbreaker by Tara Sim

I LOVED the Buffy tv show and comic books when I was younger, and have been meaning to do a rewatch/reread! They were the best! 😍
I’ve rewatched over 20 times.. don’t judge haha. For a while it was even on Netflix! It’s definitely very nostalgic for me.
Thank you for mentioning me, darling!
I hope you get yourself a few books you really want without feeling guilty! Treat yourself, you deserve it!
Thank you! And thanks again for tagging me, it was really fun!
Yay, nice to meet another book-blogger and I love that you are also a new mom. I can totally relate to what you said about not buying stuff for yourself most of the time. Its the same for me though I also don’t read as much as I used to before having my little one. Such a great, fun tag!
Yay! *mama bear high five*
It’s funny how your life changes after you have a kid isn’t it? Reading has definitely been sacrificed here too. It’s getting easier as she gets bigger but when she first started walking it got even harder to do anything! I’m guessing that’s right around the corner for your little girl?
I hope you’ll do this tag, I’d love to read your post!
