Welcome to another Short Reads Saturday! Thank you for joining me! Today I read a fun little prequel to an upcoming release! Find the review for the prequel below, followed by a release announcement for book 1!
Blasted Bloomers
Loon Lake Supernaturals Prequel
Author: Maaja Wentz
Category: Teens/YA, Supernatural, Romance, Short Story
Suitable for: Teens+
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Format Read for Review: Kindle
Pages: 23
Description: When shy bookworm Tonya is asked out by the cute, smart popular boy, she thinks she needs magical help for their date. She chooses to wear enchanted granny panties but the date doesn’t go the way she expected…
“In the movies, magic is big. It’s all dragons and wizards and fighting evil, but in Loon Lake, magic is part of the landscape-a secret kept from the outside world.”
In Short: This is a cute, fun little read. I recommend this book to those who like YA with a magical twist. This is a prequel to Feeding Frenzy: Curse of the Necromancer which is scheduled to come out in less than a week (Mar. 9, 2018)!
“The bloomers, of course! They had to be enchanted.”
Pros: This was a fun fast paced story with a great ending that made me laugh. The dialogue was great and the scenes entertaining. I was definitely interested in the characters and would love to read more about them; see where this blossoming love story goes as well as discover the supernatural side of the story. A good sample of the authors writing and a cute introduction to the series.
“She was a bit shy, a bit chubby, and although she was in senior year, no boy had ever asked her out.”
Cons: At one point in the beginning, I thought it was repeating her name too much, but that either stopped or I stopped noticing. The girl in the story is described as “chubby” so I don’t think the cover is a great match.
Parent’s Guide: Kissing, sexual innuendo but no sex.
Upcoming Release!

Winner of the coveted Watty Award, Feeding Frenzy is a witch’s brew of intrigue with a dollop of comedy, a teaspoon of romance, and a pinch of horror.
