(REVIEW) Cupid’s Kiss by Courtney Hunt

Happy Valentine’s Day awesome readers! I saved this particular read for today. Now this isn’t a genre I usually read. Many romance novels are too cheesy for me and I find myself rolling my eyes by the first “bulging bicep” but today is a special exception, so let’s see how this exception fairs…

Without further ado here is my review.
But as you read please keep in mind this book is not my favorite kind.

Description: Ironically named Valentina is known for being a Valentine’s Grinch. After having her heart broken on Valentine’s day she hates everything related to the holiday and just wants to get through the season of misery. It doesn’t help that she owns a card shop and is surrounded by reminders. Even though she has sworn off men forever she can’t help getting butterflies for one man, the delivery guy Mac. This year Mac wants to make Val love Valentine’s day again and he has devised the perfect plan to make it happen.

In Short: An ooey gooey sweet love story set on Valentine’s day. I recommend this book to those who like chick-lit, erotica, contemporary romance HEAs. This book is graphic and intended for an adult audience. This book is part of a series. I haven’t read book 1 but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything (it was fine as a standalone). If you are interested in this series you can get the books for free from the author’s newsletter. I’m not sure if it’s the first 2 or first 4 books, but either way you can start with book 1!

“‘I’ll give you fifty bucks for that shirt, Joe.’ Joe Carefully set a steel pitcher full of frothy, steamed milk down and grabbed the back of his t-shirt, yanking it over his head, his toned stomach muscles rippling. He tossed the shirt to her and snagged the cash out of her hand. Before she could blink, he’d pocketed her money and winked at her before resuming making drinks.”

Pros: This book is well written and edited, I found very few typos. The characters are interesting, likable and have unique voices. The story is sweet and sexy. Mac’s idea to give her a romance-free, stress-free Valentine’s date was really romantic. Although this isn’t really my genre of choice this is a good book. It was a quick, fun read that packed a lot of character background into very few pages. There were some laughs. The ending was cute and funny and sets up the next book nicely. Each book in the series seems to be about a different couple with a unique story, set around a coffeeshop during different holidays/seasons which is a really neat idea.

Cons: The cheese factor is high. Some people like this kind of thing, it’s not really my jam. There were a few eye rolls on my part. Like when he glanced in the rear view mirror and saw his own goofy grin. I don’t know about you but I don’t see myself in my rearview mirror with just a glance (because it’s positioned properly). I have to not over-think some elements of it, or question the depth of the couple’s relationship (the short length didn’t help that).

Parent’s Guide: Graphic sexual content.
