Teaser Tuesday ~ Aug. 14, 2018 ~ Monsters in the Clouds by Russell James @RRJames14

Welcome to Teaser Tuesday, a Meme, created by The Purple Booker, that wants you to add books to your TBR, or just share what you are currently reading. It is very easy to play along:

– Grab your current read
– Open to a random page
– Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
– BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
– Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! Everyone loves Teaser Tuesday.

Here’s my current read:

Monsters in the Clouds by Russell James

I’m about 25% in and so far and it’s pretty good! The main character has a really good sense of humor which I am greatly enjoying. I’m definitely curious to see how things unfold. There have been references to the previous book and although I don’t think I need it for this story I do wish I could have read it first. I am currently reading this book as a judge in the Indie Horror Book Awards.

I’ll be taking the teasers from early in the book, because I don’t want any spoilers either! Enjoy,

monsters in the clouds

Here are my teaser sentences (no spoilers):

“Through the windshields Grant saw a plateau like in the pictures. It rose like an island from a sea of white fog. Trepidation and exhilaration sparred as he worried about parachuting in and anticipated what waited below in that unexplored land.”

Amazon Blurb:

Paleontologist Grant Coleman and activist Janaina Silva are recruited by Thana Katsoros for a top secret expedition, one in search of a live Apatosaurus on a plateau deep in the Amazonian rain forest.

But their plane crashes short of their destination, and the entire group faces a terrifying fight for survival. This isolated area hosts unknown animals more fearsome than they’d expected, including giant ants and flesh-eating pterosaurs.

Even worse, Katsoros’ agenda has more to it than meets the eye, and Grant soon fears that it doesn’t include all of them getting back alive. Will any expedition members survive to be rescued, or will they be devoured by the creatures indigenous peoples call the monsters in the clouds?

If it sounds good to you, you should check out the whole series! I finished this book and loved it. It mixed in real science to make everything that much more plausible. I definitely have the series wish-listed now!
